Underwhelming

The initial experience was good when entering the venue. The staff was ready and willing to help. The show was underwhelming, seemed like it was a pit stop by the performers rather than hearing solid comedy it seemed to be less than thought out. I’ve been a fan of Mr Gaffigan for many years but his material was at times a bit boring to listen to. It was a treat to see him perform live but underwhelming. My biggest issue with the show was the actions of the floor staff at the venue though. They were constantly walking the aisles with flashlights on, often shining into the eyes of all the people wanting to watch the show. It was clearly upsetting everyone in the seating areas and the staff seemed to be clueless to their actions pulling away from the show. Along with those actions- we read and were told at least twice to not take photos or record the show- fair enough but the kicker was on a few occasions people were answering a text and the venue staff would come over and tell people not to record. I was sitting next to one person when this happened when the staff member told him to not record and he tried to explain he wasn’t recording- and the staff member told the customer “Just put your phone away”. A show full of mostly middle aged people who were complying with the no recording rule don’t need to be treated like children was my response. The guy was courteously covering his phone and lowering the light to quickly answer a text- not trying to steal content from the underwhelming show. I suppose the staff needs more training on how to handle situations like these but should also be trained on how to show restraint when it comes to speaking to paying customers. Without trying to sound like a Debbie Downer I want to say- the show could have been better with some simple training and I’ll probably think twice before coming back or recommending a show at this location again. I’ve been to a few other events here in the past and was always satisfied with the level of service from the staff- this time, not so much.
